AdministratorDecember 2, 2025 at 2:53 pm in reply to: Share your watercolor paintings with us!Here is what I worked on in our Focus Painting Session earlier today! I’m working on a series called “Where is Home?” which depicts lonely houses in unlikely places.
They’re coming along nicely one layer at a time. You can see my mini paintings where I worked out most of the major kinks ahead of time—highly recommend this technique!
(The Creative Collective coaching group meets every Tuesday for an hour of focused painting as a way to body double and share accountability.)

AdministratorDecember 18, 2025 at 5:35 pm in reply to: Share your latest lettering project! This is awesome practice! I, too, enjoy lettering while watching TV and just grabbing random words and phrases out of the air to put to paper. The sloping problem gets me as well! That’s why I always prefer dot grid or square grid notebooks for this type of thing. It really helps keep me on the straight and narrow.

AdministratorDecember 18, 2025 at 5:32 pm in reply to: Best beginner-friendly lettering tools?Good suggestions all around! Microns are top-tier drawing/fine line pens, I love them to bits. I’m also a fan of Papermate Flairs.
If you want another idea for a monoline pen that absolutely rules, look for Posca pens. They’re opaque acrylic pens/markers that lay down color beautifully.

Ahhh! I also hate an incomplete progress bar! I’ll make sure Jon sees this so he can tinker with the settings and get this fixed. Thanks, Glenda!

AdministratorDecember 18, 2025 at 5:23 pm in reply to: What’s your favorite lettering style and why?I felt the same way about serifs for a long time. I just didn’t want to get all caught up in those extra strokes! Eventually what helped me understand serifs and have fun with them was Italic, or Flat Nib calligraphy. I linked the class below!

I currently have my eye on these scrumptious pens that are perfect for the job!
